Welcome to the Oldman Backyard Ultra
Welcome to the Oldman Backyard Ultra! This event is situated on Blackfoot Territory and takes place beside the Oldman River amongst the seemingly endless rolling coulees. This is one of Alberta's first Backyard Ultras, and despite the name, is for anyone young or old who want to test their abilities and see how far they can go until they can't. Run 1, 5, 10 or 50 laps on our 4.167 mile course and take part in a memorable experience that is filled with an amazing community and very unique event. Event rules will meet the backyard ultra standards and will act as a qualifying event for those who really wish to push their limits.
New to a Backyard Ultra?
Backyard ultras follow a simple rule: runners start every hour on the hour, and follow a 4.167 mile course. Pace doesn’t matter, as long as you finish the loop before the one-hour cutoff and are ready to start the next loop on time. After runners finish each loop (or “yard” as it’s called in a backyard race) they may rest, eat, refuel, cry—the options are endless. Racers must simply be at the starting line ready to run every hour on the hour until only one runner is left.
This is a non-profit event and Backyard ultra for a cause! All proceeds and donations will be directed to Youth One. Youth One is Youth and Family Centre founded out of Lethbridge, Alberta that provides free, mentorship based out of school programs and support services for teens 11-18. For every $1500 raised through this event, one individual youths costs will be covered for the entire year, providing unlimited access to meal programs, support services, after school drop-in centre and more. This year 430 of these individual sponsorships need to be fulfilled. To learn more about Youth One and the impact it is having on southern Alberta's families visit www.youthone.ca
*Youth One / Oldman BYU is a project of Bridges of Hope. When registration or donations are complete, you will see a transaction from Bridges of Hope on your bank statement.
