Welcome to the 2025 Dizzy Fifties!

Monte Sano State Park – Huntsville, AL
Saturday, November 15, 2025
A Huntsville Track Club Event

We’re back for the 22nd annual Dizzy Fifties, and this year we’re going big — with new distance options! The original 50K remains the heart and soul of this grassroots trail classic, but for the first time ever, we’re offering 20-mile and 10-mile options. That means more runners, more trail love, and more dirt-slingin’ fun.

Whether you’re an ultra veteran or just dipping your toes into the trail world, Dizzy welcomes you. Same great looped course, same laid-back vibe, same low-key celebration of the trail community — just with more ways to join in.

NEW in 2025.... Race Distance Options

- 50K (3 loops – starts at 7:00 AM)
- 20 Mile (2 loops – starts at 7:15 AM)
- 10 Mile (1 loop – starts at 7:15 AM)

Each big loop = ~10 miles and ~1,000 ft. of climbing.
The course is ~3,000 ft. gain total for the 50K.

All runners will have a full 9 hours to finish their race — so yes, you CAN do this!

The Course

All distances follow the same figure-8-style loop. We’ll refer to this as the “big” loop. It starts with a flatter, faster section utilizing the South Plateau Loop, Firetower and the Family Bike Trail (a.k.a. Bucca), so keep an eye out for bikers and share the trail. Around 6.4 miles, you’ll pass near the pavilion aid station (but you don’t have to stop unless you want to access aid). The second half of the loop dips down off the plateau, loops through Logan-Keith and the infamous climb up Sinks, and then brings you back to the pavilion. You must check in at the arch after you complete each 10-mile “big” loop.

📍 Start/Finish Location:
John Scoble Memorial Pavilion (aka the Bikers Pavilion)
1 Cabin Dr SE, Huntsville, AL 35801

Distance Changes, Bib Rules & Official Results – READ CAREFULLY

To keep this grassroots race running smoothly and fairly for everyone, we have a few very important rules about distance changes and bibs. Please read them fully!

Deadline to Change Distances:
- You may switch to a shorter distance (50K to 20M, or 20M to 10M) before race day.
- The deadline is Wednesday, November 12 — no exceptions.
- Changes are only allowed if there is space left in your new distance. (We will not reshuffle caps.)

Email the race director before the deadline if you need to change. No race-day switches and no drop-down finishes on race day.

If you start a race, you must finish that race to receive an official finish.

Examples:
Register for the 50K but stop after 20 miles... No 20-mile result.
Sign up for the 20M and only run one loop... No 10-mile finish.

You must finish the distance you are registered for (or officially changed to by 11/12) in order to appear in the results.

BIB MUST BE WORN ON THE FRONT; clearly visible at all times. This is critical for timing and lap counting.

Bibs tucked under jackets, on hydration packs, or turned backward will cause problems. We need to see your bib at the finish arch after each loop to track your progress and credit you with the correct number of loops.

Bib Transfers Are Not Allowed- Do not give your bib to someone else. This creates serious safety issues and is unfair to other runners.

We love this race community — help us keep it honest, fair, and fun for everyone!

Race Rules

As with all HTC races, the following are not allowed:

- Bicycles, strollers, pets (we love 'em, just not on course)
- Roller skates or skateboards

The use of headphones, earbuds, or any personal music device is strongly discouraged. This is not a closed course, and you need to be able to hear bikers, hikers, and your fellow runners. Runner safety is a top priority!

Don’t worry — we’ll have great music back at the pavilion to keep spirits high when you roll through for aid and high-fives.

This goes without saying, but do not litter. Leave no trace!

The Huntsville Slam

Only the 50K counts toward the HTC Slam Series. The 10M and 20M are not eligible.

Smile for the camera! Schreiner Trail Photography will be out on the course capturing all the dirt, grit, and grins. Be sure to thank him — and show off how much fun you're having out there!
