Trail of Honor: Cody Myers Memorial Race

Presented by the Sons of Italy #146

On Sunday, October 19, the Lock Haven community will gather on the trails to honor a life defined by service, leadership, and love for the outdoors. The Trail of Honor: Cody Myers Memorial Race is a meaningful 8-mile trail race through the woods Cody once explored - an event created to carry forward the values he lived every day. Proceeds benefit the Cody Myers Legacy Scholarship, supporting young leaders who embody Cody’s spirit of integrity and mentorship.

CPT Cody Myers was a soldier, mentor, and devoted family man. He served with distinction in the U.S. Army, inspired future leaders through his work with ROTC, and always made time for the woods, the mountains, and the quiet strength of nature. Whether chasing whitetail with his father or teaching cadets with purpose and patience, Cody led by example. This race is a tribute to his impact - and a way to keep that impact growing.

The shirt deadline was October 4. After October 5, shirts are first come, first served while supplies last — we may have a few extras on hand race day!

Course Description

The 8.7-mile course starts and finishes at the Sons of Italy Campground in Lock Haven and now follows Scootac Road on an out-and-back route. The terrain is a mix of dirt and trail, flat and fast the whole way—built for rhythm and speed.

With just under 900 feet of total gain, the course is approachable yet still offers a challenge. Runners will pass through two stocked aid stations: Savage Aid Station at roughly mile 2.25, and the Turnaround Aid Station at mile 4.25, before heading back toward the finish.

Early October usually brings crisp air and peak fall colors, making this course as rewarding for the views as it is for the run itself.

Aid Stations and Support

Two aid stations - located around mile 2 and mile 5 - will be stocked with water, electrolytes, and light trail snacks. Volunteers will be out on course to help with directions and basic support. The route will be clearly marked and open to runners, hikers, and ruckers.

Runner Experience

This is a community-first trail race - timed, but low-key and welcoming. Whether you’re chasing a finish time or just out for a good day in the woods, the atmosphere is relaxed and supportive. Expect a warm vibe at the start/finish area, with family, friends, and fellow runners all there to honor Cody’s legacy. Whether you’re racing, running, or rucking, the focus is on connection, not competition.
