Huron 100

Waterloo State Recreation area

Grass Lake, MI 100 Miler, 50 Miler

Registration closes: Sat, Jun 1 @ 11:59PM ET

RACE DESCRIPTION

This year marks the first official running of the Huron 100 Endurance Run! You don't want to miss being on the ground floor of this epic point-to-point adventure across the Huron River Watershed. This race will take you on an unforgettable journey through 6 State Recreation areas, 2 Metroparks and 1 County Park. It is comprised of 78 - 82% trail and has 7900 - 8200 feet of elevation. There will be 13 - 15 aid stations (including 5 crew access aid stations) along the course and a reasonable 31 hour cut off.

If the 100 miler is too much to bite off this year, we are also offering a 50 mile option: the Waterloo-Pinckney 50 or WP 50. The WP 50 will start alongside the Huron 100 and will take runners on the ultimate odyssey through the Waterloo-Pinckney area.

A luxurious 10 AM start time for both races will allow you plenty of sleep prior to catching the morning shuttle to the start line at Waterloo State Recreation area. If you are running the Huron 100, the late start will also have you finishing your miles at Proud Lake State Recreation area during the day so you can take a much awaited dip in the cool waters of the Huron River.

PERMIT UPDATE

Our final permit approval has come through! I want to thank everyone for their patience in waiting for us to clear the final hurdles.

As a result of permit requirements and construction, there are some minor changes to the course that everyone should be aware of.
- Silver Lake road construction: Our way of getting you guys past route 23 is via the Silver Lake road underpass, which is currently under construction so MDOT can install round-abouts. However, there is a good chance we will still be able to utilize this 0.2 mile stretch to get you safely through. However, if this is not possible, there will be a 3.9 mile road detour that will be utilized. To keep the race close to 100 miles, this means removing 4 trail miles within Brighton State Rec Area. This takes our overall estimate of the 100 mile course being 82% trail to about 78% trail. In addition, aid station locations would also be affected in the Brighton State Rec area and Island Lake State Rec area. You will still have access to crew, pacers and drop bags at roughly the same mile markers. All runners will be made aware of the 2 possible routes and will know the final route at least 1 week prior to race day.
- The race cut-off has been updated to 31 hours (originally 33 hours). This should still be quite generous given the course difficulty and we will reasonable given this is our first year doing this.
- The 50 mile course is unaffected by construction
