May 12 Update: We have received approval for a limited number of Campers/RV's for our Aravaipa Campground in 2022. There are no designated spots and no hookups. Please reach out to Noah before purchasing a permit if you're planning on bringing something more than a tent so we can be sure there are still spots available. Noah@aravaiparunning.com
Our Aravaipa Group Campground is conveniently located just a short walk from the start/finish area under the pines. There will be water access and portable restrooms available. Parking for your vehicle is very close to the group camping area, but you will not park your vehicle AT your tent. There are no designated spots in the group camping area and all tent locations will be first come, first serve. There are only a limited number of permits available this year so plan ahead as we anticipate it selling out!

Welcome to the 8th annual Big Pine Trail Runs at Fort Tuthill County Park! Runners will get to experience both the Soldiers Trail and Highlands Trail Loop (6 Km runners will only run on a partial Soldiers Trail loop) which winds through the ponderosa pines above 7,000 ft, eventually topping out on a mesa with expansive views of mountain landscapes before being enveloped back into the trees.
May 12 Update - 53 Km: There has been a rather significant change to the original 52K course we had planned on using this June. There is a section near the Rodgers Lake area that is now considered an easement zone and therefore will not allow us to run on these trails in a permitted race. In an effort to keep some of these trails and to keep the ultra distance interesting, we've mapped out a new 53K course. 53K runners will now get to head out of the Fort Tuthill County Park early on, and then a few miles later you'll hop on the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS TRAIL) heading north out of the Tuthill Park. Returning through the start/finish area around mile 24, you can pick up a pacer and head back out for the final 13Km loop to complete your ultra in the pines. More details including the map, aid station chart, GPX file, etc can be found on the race website.
The trail ranges from narrow single track to wide well-maintained forest paths. The course is well graded for beginners while allowing the more experienced runner to stretch their legs and gun for a fast time while still maintaining the challenge of being at a higher elevation. Races follow a 13K loop. (27 Km = 2 loops / 13 Km = 1 loop).
