About Kodiak Ultra Marathons

The 9th annual Kodiak Ultra Marathons will take place August 19-20, 2022 in beautiful Big Bear Lake, California. Big Bear Lake sits at 7,000 ft in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. The 100 mile distance will start and finish in the Big Bear Village and will circumnavigate the entire Big Bear Valley.

There will be a total of 13 aid station stops along the 100 mile route, including six crew-accessible aid stations. Pacers are permitted starting at Mile 55.8. Pacers permitted in the 100M race only. Visit Big Bear has generously granted the Kodiak a $10,000 prize purse! The Kodiak 100 miler is a 6 point UTMB Qualifier.

In 2022, in addition to the 100M we will host 100K, 50K, Half Marathon, and 10K courses.

100K

Want a taste of the Kodiak without the extremes of summiting the 10,000ft Sugarloaf Mountain and crossing over Deadman's Ridge? Or maybe you just want to avoid the climb up Seven Oaks. The 100K will start with the 100M race from the Big Bear Village and follow the same course all the way to Mile 59.

50K

The 50K distance will now start and finish in the Big Bear Village. The course map will be updated on our website once it is confirmed.

Half Marathon & 10K

Start and finish downtown in the heart of the Big Bear Village. You will head into the forest and start climbing to the high point of the course at 8,000 feet. Enjoy the beautiful single track along the ridge, with amazing views of San Gorgonio peak in the background! A stunning course that will test you and thrill you at the same time. The final 3 miles are a cruise downhill along Knickerbocker Road, a dirt road above the town of Big Bear Lake with view of the lake to take in while you finish your trail run.

Proceeds from the Kodiak benefit the San Bernardino Search & Rescue, Big Bear Valley Trails Foundation, Mountain Top Radio Association, Big Bear Civil Air Patrol, and the Big Bear Middle School Interact Club.

Deferral Policy

Registration can be deferred for 1 year. Requests to defer must be emailed no later than June 1, 2022. After June 1, deferrals may be possible by volunteering for this year's race (email us for details - there is a minimum hour requirement. Thank you!). No refunds will be issued other than if the event were to be cancelled - see Cancellation Policy below.

How to Register using your credit if you rolled over

If you opted to rollover in 2020 (due to the pandemic), you must use your rollover credit for the 2022 event or you will lose it. Registration is NOT automatic. Follow the steps in this document to process your rollover. You must complete this by May 1. No exceptions.

If you deferred the 2021 event (as in, you registered and paid in 2021-not 2020), we have attempted to use Ultrasignup's "Auto Credits" feature. Therefore, your rollover should already be associated with your Ultrasignup account (just be sure to use the same email address). Click Register and complete the steps to register and your credit from 2021 should appear at the Checkout screen. If your credit does not appear, please email us: info@kodiak100.com.

Waitlist Policy

A waitlist will be opened once each race distance reaches capacity. If you are selected off the waitlist you will be informed via email and will have 24 hours to let us know if you wish to be registered. If we don't receive your response within 24 hours, the next entrant will be accepted and you will be removed from the waitlist.

Refund Policy

No refunds will be issued other than if the event were to be cancelled - see Cancellation Policy below.

Event Cancellation Policy

Should the event be cancelled due to an act of God, community disaster, fire, severe weather event, emergency, or any other issue of public safety, no refunds can or will be guaranteed. A refund percentage will be calculated to enable the organizers to cover part of the expenses incurred which cannot be recovered.

If you disagree with this policy or just don't even like it - DON'T REGISTER!
