Registration is open, however, given the current events and uncertainty brought upon the global community by the current COVID-19 pandemic, Headwarers Trail Runs has decided to postpone all payment processing through Ultrasignup. You may register for Headwaters Trail Runs, but your credit card will not be charged until a later date when we are certain that the 2020 event will take place as scheduled.
These are unprecedented and unpredictable times. Although I would like to think we will be clear to host Headwaters Trail Runs on September 26 as planned, no one knows how events will unfold. To allow registration to open, but hold payment processing seems like a prudent step at this time.
Please be diligent in keeping yourself, your family, and your community safe during this outbreak. Please consider the people and families that have already been tragically affected by this disease. And, please reach out to your community’s healthcare workers and essential employees and thank them for their care and service. This is a serious event, but together with kindness, compassion, and cooperation I hope we will reach the other side.
Headwaters Trail Runs are 56k, 31k, and 10k trail running events held in the Klamath Mountains west of Mount Shasta City, CA. These three scenic trail runs are named after the headwaters of the Sacramento River.
The 56k and 31k races are scenic, mountainous loop courses (the 56k adds a 15-mile out-and-back section to the 31k loop). They are run entirely on single-track trails and dirt forest roads that wind up, down, around, and through the rugged mountains that claim host to the crystal-clear headwaters of California's longest river. Both races include miles on the historic Sisson-Callahan National Recreation Trail.
The 10k race is a relatively flat, fast loop on the lake trail that circles the forested shores of picturesque Lake Siskiyou. The Lake Siskiyou Trail is a favorite trail for local trail runners of all abilities.
The magnificent backdrop for all runs is majestic Mt. Shasta (14,179' elev.), the most massive of all the Cascade volcanoes, and Mt. Eddy (9025' elev.), the highest peak in the Klamath Mountains. Runners are rewarded with clean mountain air, challenging terrain, fully-stocked aid stations, and a welcoming and enthusiastic volunteer staff.
Registration fees include race entry, event shirt, post-race food and beverage, and finisher's gift.
